During the period November 2019 - April 2020, a preliminary process was carried out by the consultancy firm PwC, commissioned by PIO and the City of Mechelen, to explore the preconditions and market opportunities for a proper conversion from the current paper Mechelenbon to a more innovative and future-proof 'digital Mechelenbon'.

Through a further refinement of needs together with a written market survey, a comprehensive list of the desired functional requirements of the 'digital Mechelenbon' could be drawn up. In addition, as a result of the market consultation, the City of Mechelen is now also opting for a public services contract whereby it has chosen to deliver a solution in a PAAS model (platform as a service).

The contract will be placed in the market in the short term.
