The Department of MOW, in collaboration with the PIO and Flemish Waterway, drafted the assignment document. The assignment is aimed at supporting the validation of design studies, evaluation of load and vibration tests and monitoring the short-term and long-term behaviour of such bridges. Furthermore, the results of this assignment will have to lead to recommendations and texts for specifications with a view to the sustainable design and construction of future structures in composite materials. It is also explicitly intended that the results will be widely shared (e.g. via publications, study days, etc.), both with governments, study agencies, companies and umbrella organisations.

A negotiated procedure without prior publication was chosen for services. On 14 May, the pre-information notice for this contract was published on the PIO website. The contract was awarded to WTCB in collaboration with SECO Belgium in December 2018.
