Ambient noise in Flanders

Procurement

Use case 'Night noise'

For the project 'Ambient noise in Flanders', the first assignment was issued at the end of 2021 and subsequently awarded to Ghent University in collaboration with the Provincial Institute for Hygiene (PIH). The aim of this assignment is to develop a plan of approach for the use case 'Determining personal noise exposure during the night and linking this to health effects, sleep disturbance and appreciation of noise' and to validate and optimise it via a pilot project with repeated measurements with a limited number of users. In a later phase, this plan of approach should be rolled out concretely and on a larger scale in, among others, the next cycle of the Flemish Human Biomonitoring Programme. You can find the specifications via e-Procurement. This assignment is currently in progress.

Use case 'Measurement network'

A second assignment was announced in early October 2022. The aim of this assignment is to set up a Proof of Concept (PoC) for rolling out a measurement network of sensors in a citizen science project. The ultimate goal of this citizen science project is to map environmental noise in Flanders, including the classification of noise sources in the (living) environment, on the one hand, and to capture the appreciation of that environmental noise, on the other. The insights from this PoC will be developed into a concrete roadmap. In a later phase, it should be possible to roll out this roadmap to a larger population as part of an extensive citizen science project in which, on the one hand, environmental exposure is mapped out in a more (as much as possible) area-wide way using semi-permanent measuring devices and, on the other hand, noise appreciation in Flanders is monitored on a large scale by means of a survey tool.

You can find the specifications via e-Procurement. The deadline for submitting tenders is 7 November 2022 - 10 a.m.
