Excellent meal care in residential elderly care through optimal information flow between care and kitchen

Challenge

Meal care is an important pillar in residential elderly care.

Being able to enjoy proper meals every day keeps residents physically healthy and increases their well-being. A proper meal is tasty and healthy, has a balanced nutritional value and is adapted to the needs and wishes of the resident.

It is a challenge for the kitchen staff of residential care facilities to ensure that residents get the right meal at any time of the day. After all, life does not stand still in assisted living facilities.  Every day there are many changes that have an impact on the organization of meal care.

With this project, vzw Zorg-Saam ZKJ wants to use technology to support the alignment of the processes of care needs and the processes in the kitchen operation of the residential care centers with the goal: A more direct and simple communication between care departments and kitchen. The desired meal with the right resident according to the needs of the day. A clear picture of diets and supplementary foods and corresponding follow-up to avoid malnutrition. Determination of the right quantities and needs per department in order to avoid food waste.
