Terra is the patrimony and energy database, created in the lap of Flanders Radical Digital. The database bundles energy information and characteristics about the buildings and infrastructure of the Flemish public sector. One of the tasks of the VEB is to ensure that the data are optimally and actively used to initiate and follow up energy saving projects and renewable energy projects.

Within this PIO project, VEB, Het Facilitair Bedrijf and VEA are working together to achieve the following objectives through the smart use of this data: detect energy saving potentials in public buildings faster thanks to AI applications and smart algorithms; elaborate comprehensive real estate strategies with a lasting impact thanks to patrimony analyses and professionally driven energy management; initiate measures and facilitate and follow up OEPC contracts for the public sector thanks to measurement and verification models; increase the impact of specific functionalities thanks to synergies with other projects and initiatives.

We will explore where AI can be used to achieve these objectives and whether a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model can add value.
