NXTMobility Recruitment

challenge

To tackle the (increasing) traffic congestion in and around Antwerp, the city of Antwerp has set up the Slim naar Antwerpen program together with various partners. This program aims at a time, mind & modal shift where mobility users (both companies and citizens) are nudged towards the most optimal option within the wide range of mobility solutions available, while retaining as much freedom of choice as possible.

The availability of accurate data on the state of the mobility infrastructure is crucial here. In order to ensure that all mobility providers have the most optimal and correct information about sites and occupation of the public domain (e.g. for events), this data must be properly captured from the source, and the various stakeholders must be encouraged to keep the data up-to-date.

With this in mind, the city of Antwerp and Digipolis are aiming to develop a tool with the PIO project NXTMobility Werven in order to enter, pass on and maintain information about construction sites and intake of the public domain in a more efficient way. Specifically, the tool should allow for vectorized entry of site information and be able to instantly convert the data from polygon to vectorized format and vice versa. Permits for sites and intake of the public domain must be requested through the Generic Information Platform Public Domain (GIPOD). To enter data into GIPOD, the polygon format must be used (required by law). That format is convenient for quick data entry but it is unusable for further (digital) processing of data for the benefit of information systems that require higher detail, e.g. route planners, mapping tools and (other) systems deployed by mobility providers.

NXTMobility Werven not only frames the growing need for accurate data on (the state of) the mobility infrastructure but also in the further technological push towards autonomous driving vehicles.

NXTMobility Werven, together with the PIO projects NXTMobility Manager and NXTMobility Incentives, is part of the 'NXTMobility' digital architecture that (digitally) underpins the realization of Slim naar Antwerpen. NXTMobility aims to link the various digital mobility systems so that mobility and mobility behavior can be (managed) more efficiently and the various data and services can be shared and integrated with external players.

Also, NXTMobility Recruiting is implemented in close connection with the PIO project WAKANDA which also aims at the follow-up of recruitments, but then at the Flemish (management) level and from a management (availability and internal flow of data) rather than a technical (quality and reusability of data) need.
