Bio-waste-based facade cladding from local organic waste

Challenge

The intermunicipalities DDS and Verko will build a new office and staff building with an expected completion date of 2027. The construction is part of the Master Plan 2040 for the (re)development of the site, focusing on:

  • Spatial and energy efficiency
  • Research space (living lab) for sustainability and technology
  • Example site for spatial development and building technology

For this building, they wish to develop circular façade cladding made from the green waste arriving at their own site. During the PIO project, the intermunicipalities wish to investigate whether locally collected green waste can be used for this application, and this with an absolute minimum to no additional need for space and energy.
