The BotM initiators themselves went through an extensive preliminary process that included the following actions:

1. Drafting a concrete project plan;
2. Focusing the project scope;
3. Determining the state-of-the-art;
4. Matching supply and demand.

From the preliminary process, a project plan followed to work in four phases:

• Phase 1: development of the Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) building block (= generic ID solution based on Blockchain technology);
• Phase 2: development of the use case 'relocation process';
• Phase 3: integration of the SSI building block;
• Phase 4: dissemination of the results and creation of an SSI ecosystem.
